Invite a Friend to Hike June Outdoor Challenge

Sharing is caring:

I’m so excited to host this June Invite a Friend to Hike Outdoor Challenge. Why? Because I love hiking with friends!

Invite a Friend to Hike

The easiest way to explore outdoors for me is to get outside and walk in nature. But if you’re a kid, walking in nature can sound kinda boring. All my tots want to do is play.

How do we all get what we want? We hike with friends! That way my kids can play WHILE we walk in nature – it’s a win-win all around.

This month I want to challenge YOU to invite a friend on a hike, especially a friend who may be new to hiking. I want to help more families explore outdoors and I believe that starts by building an outdoor community. Sign up here for my outdoor challenge and you AND your friend can get details to help you get out and hike!

National Trails Day and the 10,000 Women Trail Project

This month’s Invite a Friend to Hike challenge was inspired by the American Hiking Society’s National Trails Day and the 10,000 Women Trail Project.

National Trails Day

The first Saturday of June each year is National Trails Day in the US. It’s a day to get outdoors, enjoy nature and maybe clean up a trail by you. Events are coordinated all around the country through the American Hiking Society.

This year (2018) I decided to host a neighborhood hike to a local waterfall on National Trails Day to connect my immediate community with the outdoors. It’s my version of a neighborhood block party.

Another inspiration for the Invite a Friend to hike challenge was being named as a trailblazer for the 10kWomenTrailProject back in November of 2017. The goal of this initiative is to invite 10,000 women to hike with a friend in 2018.

Managed by the non-profit HikeitBaby.com through a Force of Nature Grant from REI, the 10kWomenTrailProject seeks to create a community of outdoor-loving women. The goal is to get women hiking with friends on a regular basis. You know I’m all about that!

So, will you hike with me this month and invite a friend to join you?

Deuter Hiking Day Packs Prize

And the prize! Ooooo, you’re gonna love it. This month one Mountain Mom and Tots Patron will win one Deuter hiking day pack for themselves PLUS a Deuter hiking day pack for a friend.

Two awesome hiking packs just for completing the June 2018 monthly outdoor challenge!Deuter makes the best packs around whether it’s their Kid Comfort Carrier, their Deuter Aircontact Lite 45 (I just got this one to try out – I’m super excited) or the Deuter Helion 60 Roller Duffel Travel Backpack. They’ve got a pack for everyone!

What I love about Deuter packs are the well-designed features. For example, my daughter’s Deuter Kikki pack is not only the most adorable toddler-size pack you’ve ever seen, it’s also super well-designed. With reflective tabs on the straps and pockets, a built-in chest strap, comfort padding on the back and side pockets just the right size for collecting outdoor treasures, I can tell it was made with 3 to 6 year-olds in mind.

Similarly the Deuter Aircontact Lite 45 has a separate lower gear pocket, tie down strap attachments, an easy adjust torso length and an expansion area that allows for extra storage on those overnight trips. Deuter even has backpacking packs for KIDS!

You could win a Deuter day pack of your choice for you AND one for a friend. Sweet, right?

Deuter is an awesome company to work with, which is why I begged them to sponsor this month’s challenge.  Not only that, they also sent me some packs to review. Thank you!

Psst…some of the links here are affiliate links. If you purchase something after clicking them I get a small commission. Please do that – I’m saving up for backpacking gear for the whole family.
